MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT PAYS A VISIT TO NSAWAM ADOAGYIRI MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY.

The MCE (Hon. Isaac Kwadwo Buabeng) and the Coordinating Director (Mrs. Ruth Woode) of the Nsawam Municipal Assembly welcomed and introduced the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama to the general staff of the assembly. 

The Minister took the opportunity to congratulate the Assembly for being ranked third on the District League Table II (DLT)  2019 and also commended the staff for their hard work which has helped to achieve this feat.

She also went on to empower the assembly to improve its revenue generation capabilities through the collection of property rates. she however cautioned that the assembly do not spend more on the revenue collection than they are able to generate since it is not sustainable. She went on to acknowledge difficulty in totally eradicating the leakages in the system, however motivated the assembly to come up with creative ways that will help reduce it to the barest minimum.

Furthermore, the minister spoke about a legislation in parliament  pending approval for the citizens to vote for their own MMDCE’s moving away from the current standard of the President appointing them into office. 

The Minister went ahead to answer some questions asked by the staff and also made a promise to help the assembly to register and secure its land to prevent people from encroaching on it.

It all concluded by the Municipal Human Resource Director giving a vote of thanks to show appreciation to the minister for the visit.
