Senior officers and heads of departments of the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality Assembly on thursday paid a day’s working visit to the Ga South Municipal Assembly, to learn about the revenue mobilisation strategy of the assembly. The 10-member group that was led by the Municipal Coordinating Director of Nsawam Adoagyiri, Mr. Kofi Boateng Acheampong, studied the good management practices being implemented by the Ga South Municipal Assembly, to increase revenue for the development of the community.
They were also educated on two new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) software; Zebra Revenue Management Software for billing and monitoring revenue operations on the field, which was developed by the assembly, and the GIZ, from Germany.
Mr. Joseph Nyarni Stephen, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ga South Municipal, said the Zebra software enabled the assembly to mobilize GH₵ 2.5 Million within seven months.
According to him, the ICT Zebra software, was meant for billing, tracking revenue and collecting Data base for monitoring whilst the GIZ software from Germany helped them in street naming and property roles mobilisation.
Mr. Nyarni Stephen said, the Zebra software enabled them to mobilise revenue on billboards and property rates, among others within the shortest period. He said the assembly has formed a residents association to educate and inform the community on government policies on the mobilisation of revenue and the need to fulfill their tax obligation.
Mr. Nyarni said the assembly employed National Service personnel to collect data on buildings, businesses and billboards and assist the assembly to collect property rate and other fees.
Mr. Acheampong praised the Ga South Municipal Assembly for its prudent revenue mobilisation strategy. He said the Nsawam Adoagyiri Assembly would adopt the two ICT software system to enable staff improve upon their revenue mobilisation.
Mr. Acheampong stated that the use of National Service personnel in the collection of data for the purpose of revenue collection was worth emulating.
