The Nsawam Adoagyiri municipal Assembly has distributed items worth one hundred and twenty one thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh₵121,000) to thirty seven(37) persons living with disabilities
Some of the items include building materials for containers, wheelbarrows, polytanks, deep freezer/ refrigerators, bags of rice, bags of charcoal, boxes of drinks and water, bags of sachet water, among others.
In a brief remarks, the MCE, Hon. Isaac Kwadwo Buabeng reminded the beneficiaries that the items received are not for their personal consumption but rather an investment in their various businesses. He said government is committed to support persons with disabilities with daily bread than the one-off quarterly distribution of monies which is mostly spent within a week. He pledged the Assembly’s continuous support for the vulnerable in society by ensuring that they run businesses that can help support their families all year round.
The Municipal Social Welfare Officer, Madam Christiana Tamakloe said each of the beneficiaries identified their needs and it was distributed accordingly. She encouraged others who are part of the association to register and enjoy some of these benefits.
The beneficiaries expressed their joy as they received their preferred items and promised to use them to the best advantage.
