MCE Cuts Sod for New Classroom Block at Nsawam Presby School

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly has taken a significant step towards improving educational infrastructure in the municipality with the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a new six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Nsawam Presby School.

The project follows the devastating rainfall that occurred from the night of June 3 through to the dawn of June 4, 2026, which caused extensive damage across parts of the municipality, particularly at Nsawam Presby School. The heavy rains left some existing classroom blocks severely damaged and in a deteriorated condition, posing a serious threat to the safety and well-being of pupils and staff.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to mark the commencement of the project, the municipal chief executive reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all learners. He noted that the intervention had become necessary to address the challenges caused by the disaster and to ensure that teaching and learning continue without disruption.

He assured school authorities and the leadership of the Presbyterian Church that the Assembly would work diligently to complete the project as a matter of urgency and within the shortest possible time.

The Municipal Chief Executive expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the District Assemblies Common Fund Secretariat, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council for their swift response and support in helping to address the situation.

He also extended appreciation to the leadership of the Nsawam Presbyterian Church, Nananom, and all stakeholders who participated in the ceremony and continue to support efforts aimed at improving educational facilities within the Municipality.

The construction of the new classroom block is expected to enhance the safety, comfort, and overall learning experience of pupils at the school while contributing to the Assembly’s broader goal of strengthening educational infrastructure across the Municipality.

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly remains committed to rebuilding affected facilities and ensuring that every child has access to a safe and conducive environment for learning. Together, the Municipality will reset, rebuild, and create a brighter future for its children.
