The Environmental Health and Sanitation Officers of the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly have successfully undertaken an inspection exercise to enforce food safety and public health standards within the Municipality.

The exercise, which was conducted from 11th to 12th August 2026, focused on the inspection of 2026 Medical Screening Health Certificates of food handlers, as well as the identification and seizure of exposed food items, particularly chaff and bread, being offered for sale to the public for consumption.

The exercise is part of the assembly’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public health, promote hygienic food-handling practices, and ensure that food vendors and handlers comply with the required health and sanitation regulations.

During the exercise, several defaulters were arrested for various offenses related to food safety and public health requirements. Exposed food items considered unsafe for public consumption were also seized in accordance with the applicable regulations.

The Municipal Assembly commends the environmental health and sanitation officers for their commitment and dedication to protecting residents’ health and well-being.

The Assembly further urges food vendors, food handlers, and the public to strictly adhere to approved food safety, personal hygiene, and environmental sanitation standards. Food handlers are also reminded to obtain and maintain valid medical screening certificates as required.

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly will continue to undertake such monitoring and enforcement exercises to ensure that residents have access to safe, wholesome, and hygienically prepared food.
