On 11th November, 2020, sixty-eight (68) food vendors and thirty-one (31) school feeding caterers were assembled at the Municipal Assembly hall to take them through basic skills training on Food safety and hygiene to enhance the nutritional knowledge of these food vendors and caterers within the Municipality.
The participants were taken through various topics, including hand washing, cleaning of towels/napkins, vegetables washing, kitchen cleaning, safe food storage, clean handling of cooking items etc. They were also advised to train all new staffs of food hygiene and safety and also to ensure all staff are certified healthy and free from any form of disease or illness to avoid transmissions of infectious ailments from person to person.



The training was jointly organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, the Environmental Health Unit and facilitated by the Municipal Nutrition officer of the Municipal Health Directorate.
