Following the accident that occurred on the 7th of February 2022 at Nsawam Aburi Junction, the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) held its open forum for security related issues on the 16th of February 2022 at the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly Hall. The MCE being the chairman of MUSEC together with its committee members which consist of personnel from the Fire Service, Immigrations, Police Service, NADMO, Prions and Justice and Security interacted with traders, taxi and trotro drivers to discuss new arrangements for easy and accessible transport services within the municipality.
Some arrangements made includes;
SHORT TERM INTERVENTIONS.
- Immediate prohibition of trading on the roads and pavements
- Remove all illegal structures from the pavements by 28TH February,2022
- Removal of all broken vehicles including the blue busby the road 28TH February, 2022. Any vehicle found after the deadline shall be towed by the assembly and the owner surcharged before release with an option of auctioning to defray cost incurred.
- Immediate restriction Articulated Trucks to offload or discharge their cargo at the Central Business District (CBD) only on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Sunday except that Trucks will be allowed to park near the SSNIT Office at the Nsawam Junction and offload into smaller vehicles throughout the week.
- An immediate ban on the parking and loading in front of the Bar 205 restaurant by KIA Trucks.
- That all heavy duty vehicles carrying boulders or quarry products must either use the Prisons Market road or the court road ( whichever is convenient)
- That all heavy duty vehicles carrying boulders must have tailboards to secure the boulders to prevent avoidable accidents.
MEDIUM TERM INTERVENTIONS
- An alternate bus stop to be created at Papito Market to prohibit stopping and loading at the NHIS J unction
- That the Fire Service junction at Prisons Market should be expanded to serve as an alternative route for heavy duty and articulated vehicles.
- Two lorry parks to be created at Kudjo Market and behind the PWD Stores for Taxis and Mini Buses respectively.
- A permanent parking lot to be created for accident vehicles parked along the Police Station road.
