Assembly Engages Market Stakeholders on Sanitation and Public Health Measures

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly on Monday, 2nd February 2026, engaged market stakeholders at the Assembly Hall to discuss sanitation and public health concerns within the municipality. The stakeholders present included market queen mothers, market leaders, bread sellers’ leaders, and turkey tail sellers’ leaders.

The engagement was led by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Jasper Adenyo, with support from the Head of the Environmental Health Department, Mr. Joseph Kramper. Discussions focused on National Sanitation Day and the importance of full participation in the monthly clean-up exercises. Mr. Adenyo noted with concern that some traders fail to participate in the exercises, while others open their shops during the designated clean-up hours. Stakeholders were therefore urged to ensure that all members take part fully and resume trading only after 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Joseph Kramper addressed participants on the dangers of selling exposed ready-to-eat food, explaining how uncovered food can become contaminated and contribute to the spread of communicable diseases. He advised that all ready-to-eat food should be properly covered, preferably using sieves or suitable containers.

Mr. Kramper also highlighted an upcoming medical screening exercise for food handlers, urging all stakeholders involved in food preparation and sales to participate fully before resuming business activities. This is part of efforts to safeguard public health and prevent disease transmission.

The engagement concluded with a reminder from Assembly management that compliance with these directives is mandatory, and that any trader who flouts the regulations will be sanctioned in accordance with existing laws.
