Whether you’re planning a wedding or already married under Customary Marriage but need a certificate, the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly is here to support you.
We’re making it easier for couples to register and officially tie the knot, whether through a Customary Marriage or an Ordinance Marriage.
What You’ll Need:
For the Couple:
- Ghana Cards (both of you)
- Your Place of Birth
- Where the marriage will take place or took place
- Ghana Cards of your witnesses
For the Witnesses:
- Two (2) witnesses each for Ordinance Marriage
- One (1) witness each for Customary Marriage
How It Works:
- Notice of Marriage (Banns):
- You file a notice and wait 21 days
- After that, you get the Registrar’s Certificate
- Cost: GHS 100.00
- Marriage Certificate:
- Issued after the 21-day period
- Cost: GHS 400.00
- Officiating Ceremony:
- Takes place at the Municipal Assembly Hall
- Absolutely free!

- Cost: GHS 50.00
💍 Already Married Traditionally?
If you are already married under Customary Law but don’t have an official certificate, you can still visit the Assembly to formally register your marriage and obtain a marriage certificate. This gives your union full legal recognition and protects your rights.
