Otukwadwo, Nsawam – June 13, 2025
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nsawam Adoagyiri, Hon. Philibert Selorm Fummey, has issued a strong warning to all individuals engaging in illegal sand winning activities within the municipality to immediately cease their operations or face the full force of the law.
This directive follows a recent crackdown operation led by the District Police Commander and his team, acting on a tip-off about unauthorized sand winning activities in the Otukwadwo community. The MCE, who was part of the operation, expressed deep concern over the environmental destruction and economic impact the illegal activity has caused.
“These unscrupulous individuals, who operate under the cover of darkness, are not only destroying fertile farmlands but also threatening the livelihoods of our farmers. This is completely unacceptable,” Hon. Fummey stated.
Unfortunately, by the time the police arrived at the scene, the suspects had fled. However, investigations are ongoing, and the Assembly has pledged full support to security agencies to apprehend those involved.
In a brief meeting with traditional leaders of Otukwadwo, the MCE appealed for increased community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement. “I urge all residents and traditional leaders to report any suspicious activities related to sand winning. We must unite to end this environmental menace,” he said.
The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly has reiterated its commitment to protecting natural resources, preserving farmlands and enforcing all environmental laws to ensure sustainable development across the municipality.
