NSAWAM ADOAGYIRI MCE ENGAGES FOTOBI COMMUNITY ON DEVELOPMENT AND GOVERNMENT FLAGSHIP PROGRAMS

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Hon. Philibert Fummey Amenorpe, paid a working visit to the Chief and people of Fotobi on Wednesday, 25th June 2025. The visit formed part of the MCE’s continued drive to deepen grassroots participation, promote government flagship programs, and strengthen collaboration between the Assembly and local communities.

The team, led by the MCE, was warmly received at the Palace by the Chief of Fotobi and his elders. In line with tradition. The Presiding Member, speaking on behalf of the delegation, expressed appreciation to the traditional authorities for welcoming them and explained that they had come to formally introduce the newly appointed MCE to the community. He added that the engagement was also an opportunity to listen to the concerns of the people and to share updates on key government interventions under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

The Chief of Fotobi, in his welcome address, congratulated Hon. Amenorpe on his appointment and advised him to remain humble, focused, and people centered in the discharge of his duties. He urged the MCE to be present in the communities, not just through reports, but by physically inspecting projects to better understand their progress and challenges. He further encouraged unity among political actors and asked that the MCE act as a unifier who fosters peace and development.

In response, Hon. Amenorpe expressed his gratitude to the Chief and elders for the warm reception and wise counsel. He acknowledged the enormous responsibility placed on his shoulders and promised to work diligently in the interest of the entire municipality. He emphasized that his administration would remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the people.

The MCE took the opportunity to introduce three major government initiatives designed to improve livelihoods and accelerate development: the Adwuma Wura program, the National Apprenticeship Program, and the Feed Ghana Program.

According to him, the Adwuma Wura initiative aims to create employment by supporting individuals with start-up capital and technical assistance to grow their businesses. He noted that this intervention would be particularly beneficial to young people seeking economic independence.

On the National Apprenticeship Program, the MCE explained that the government intends to make vocational and technical training more accessible by covering the costs for trainees and offering monthly stipends. He encouraged local artisans and vocational instructors to register as trainers to help build skilled labor in the municipality.

The Feed Ghana program, he added, holds immense potential for agriculturally active communities like Fotobi. The initiative would facilitate the formation of farmer cooperatives and provide access to quality seedlings, farm machinery and financial support. He also mentioned that best performing schools and households involved in backyard farming would be recognized during Farmers’ Day celebrations.

During the open floor session, residents and elders expressed a number of concerns including support for local farmers, inadequate desks in Fotobi schools, the need to address politicization of the school feeding program and the unresolved chieftaincy conflict at Adoagyiri. They also called for sustainable job creation through the revival of old factories in the municipality.

Hon. Amenorpe assured the community that the Assembly had taken note of their concerns and would channel them through the appropriate quarters. He reiterated his commitment to transparent governance and emphasized that traditional leaders will continue to play a central role in his administration.

The visit ended on a hopeful note, with a renewed sense of cooperation between the Assembly and the Fotobi community, as both sides pledged to work together for the betterment of the municipality.
