Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality on Saturday, 7th February, 2026, successfully observed National Sanitation Day with a massive clean-up exercise led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Philibert Selorm Fummey.
The exercise, which started at 6:00am and ended at 10:00am, was part of efforts to support the vision of the President of the Republic to make Ghana one of the cleanest countries in Africa. Residents, assembly members, youth groups, and environmental health officers turned up in their numbers to clean various parts of the municipality.
Areas covered during the exercise included the Assembly Ground, Total Filling Station, Palace Frontage, Main Lorry Station, and the Environmental Health Office. Activities carried out involved sweeping of streets, desilting of gutters, collection of refuse, and proper disposal of waste to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.
Addressing participants, Hon. Philibert Selorm Fummey commended residents for their commitment and urged them to make environmental cleanliness a shared and continuous responsibility, rather than an activity limited to National Sanitation Day.
The clean-up exercise ended successfully, leaving the targeted areas visibly clean and improved. Residents expressed appreciation for the leadership shown by the MCE and called for regular sanitation exercises to help sustain the gains made and promote public health across the municipality.
