Ghana Enterprise Agency(GEA)/Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works Project in Nsawam Adoagyiri, Eastern Region, recently conducted a Technical Training in Bead Making for a group of twenty women. The training was held at the BAC Conference Hall in Nsawam.
The aim of the training was to equip the women with the skills and knowledge needed to produce quality beads and bead products. During the training, participants were taught various aspects of bead making, including the names and uses of various beads, how to make jewelry, decorate slippers, and make hair bands with beads.
Although a few of the trainees struggled with patience in dealing with the beads, almost all of them were able to create bead products during the training. The BDS provider was patient with the trainees, and the training was conducted successfully.
At the end of the fourth day of training, each participant had learned how to make jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, hair bands, and slippers. Five of the trainees were identified by the BDS provider as having performed excellently during the training.
The success of the training highlights the need for more training programs aimed at equipping women with skills that can enable them to become self-sufficient.
