The Head of the Local Government Service (LGS), Professor Lord Mensah, on Thursday, 15th January 2026, paid a working visit to the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly (NAMA) as part of his nationwide engagement with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
In an interaction with staff of the Assembly, Professor Mensah reiterated his firm vision for the growth and transformation of the Local Government Service. He stressed the importance of data-driven decision-making in local governance, the need to further professionalise the Service, the strengthening of public–private partnerships, and the promotion of fiscal decentralisation to enhance effective service delivery at the local level.
The Head of Service entreated the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to work closely with the various departments of the Assembly to instill discipline among staff. He admonished officers to strictly adhere to the approved professional dress code of the Service and directed that the Human Resource Unit should validate and recognise only officers who comply with established protocols. He further cautioned officers to desist from interfering in postings and transfers, noting that such actions undermine professionalism within the Service.
Professor Mensah also touched on the introduction of the e-learning platform, which is intended to enable officers of the Service to continuously build their capacity and improve their professional competence. He encouraged all staff to take advantage of the platform to enhance their knowledge and skills in line with modern local government administration.
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by the Head of Local Government Service to promote accountability, professionalism and efficiency across all Assemblies in Ghana.
