Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has undertaken a significant initiative to combat the health hazards posed by choked drains. The Environmental Health and Sanitation Department of Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly spearheaded the effort, conducting a large-scale desilting operation around the fire service junction on June 22, 2023.

The decision to address the clogged drains stemmed from increasing concerns about their detrimental impact on public health. Blocked drainage systems not only result in flooding during heavy rains but also serve as breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes and other harmful vectors. Recognizing the urgency to mitigate these risks, Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality joined forces with Zoomlion Ghana Limited to enhance the overall well-being of the community.

Under the careful supervision of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department, a dedicated team of workers employed specialized equipment and manpower to remove accumulated debris, solid waste, and silt from the drains. By restoring the functionality of the drainage systems, this extensive desilting operation significantly mitigated potential health risks and ensured improved water flow.

The successful clearance of choked drains at the fire service junction marks a milestone achievement in creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the residents of Nsawam Adoagyiri. The immediate benefits include a reduced risk of flooding and the prevention of stagnant water accumulation, which often leads to the spread of waterborne diseases.
