NSAWAM MUNICIPAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE: 2021 ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW

On Tuesday February 15th 2022 ,  the Nsawam Adoagyiri  Municipal Health Directorate held its Annual Performance Review Meeting  at the Green Earth Conference Hall.

Upon the arrival and registration of participants, an opening prayer was said by the head pastor of  the Ghana charismatic church   to commence the meeting. There was a need for the introduction of dignitaries present which included; Mr. Jeremiah A. Amoafo( MCD, NAMA), who was introduce as the Chairman of the meeting, Mrs. Eunice Abuaku ( municipal health Director ), Nana Amoako  Ampong( rep from the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Traditional Council) and also  reps from the Zongo community, Prison service and Notre-dam  sub- municipal.

Mrs. Eunice Abuaku, the (MHD) addressed the gathering stating the purpose of the meeting which was to review performances of all health centers in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality. In her speech, she mentioned the well-being of people and advised everyone to adhere to Covid-19 protocols.

During the performance review, presentations were done based on family planning, adolescent services, child’s welfare, mental health issues, maternity care and death rates by representatives from various health centers and that included; Fotobi sub-municipal health center, Nsawam sub- municipal health center, Prisons  hospital, Nsawam Government Hospital  and the health directorate.

Through the presentation  made by the mentioned health centers, many expectations and targets were met. For instance in Fotobi, the facility has been enhanced with a medical lab,  a  dispensary, adequate beds and drip stands.  And through these, enabled them to admit more patients without referring to its parent hospital and also enabled them to perform instant lab tests. Despite all these, they were also faced with challenges such as lack of oxygen cylinders, the unavailability of placenta disposal site, non functioning EPI refrigerator and others.

The Nsawam government hospital and Prisons  hospital has also made some achievements which included operationalization of wellness clinics, reduction in institutional maternity mortality rates, refurbishment of scan room done, urinal for patients and OPD Clients while stating some of their challenges which are; periodic shortage of HIV and Syphilis Tests Kits, inadequate infrastructure for quality health delivery, inadequate space to accommodate folders of patients at the record units

 The Municipal Health Director  however,  made an address to some of these challenges mentioned through out  the presentation of the health centers and in her address, she stated that the health directorate together with  the government is putting in their maximum effort to acquire various infrastructures which will be needed in its various health centers within the municipality. She recommended that after every child delivery, placenta should be disposed at the hospital and not given to maternity mothers to be taken home

The meeting came to an end with a closing remarks from Mr. Jeremiah A. Amoafo (MCD, NAMA).
