NAMA’S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT UNIT EMPOWERS ADOAGYIRI ZONGO THROUGH HOME-VISITS ON CHILD PROTECTION AND HYGIENE

The Community Development Unit of the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly on May 17th, 2023 conducted a series of impactful home-visits to the Adoagyiri Zongo community. These visits focused on three key areas: child protection, hygiene practices, and the importance of birth and death registration. The aim was to raise awareness, empower community members, and foster positive transformations within the community.

During the home-visits, the Department engaged with 21 households in Adoagyiri Zongo. Meaningful discussions were held on child protection, emphasizing the rights of children and the need for a safe environment. Community members were educated on identifying and reporting child abuse, promoting positive parenting, and creating a protective community for children.

Another significant topic addressed was hygiene practices. The importance of proper hand-washing, sanitation measures, waste management, and preventing waterborne diseases was emphasized. Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, community members gained knowledge and skills to implement hygienic practices.

Furthermore, the Department highlighted the significance of birth and death registration. Community members were educated on the benefits of legal documentation, such as accessing social services and identification. The importance of timely registration to protect individuals’ rights was emphasized, encouraging community members to complete the necessary registration processes.

The home-visits had a positive impact on the Adoagyiri Zongo community. Community members gained increased awareness of child protection issues, the importance of hygiene practices, and the significance of registration. This newfound knowledge is expected to lead to improved practices and better protection of children’s rights and overall well-being within the community.

The Department of Community Development’s home-visits have laid a solid foundation for positive transformations in the Adoagyiri Zongo community. By sharing knowledge and facilitating engaging discussions, the community is on a path toward long-term development and improved well-being.
