Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly took a significant step towards improving safety and security by conducting a one-day training program on Modern Security Techniques and Surveillance. The training aimed to equip City Guards Personnel (Taskforce) and Security Personnel (Watchmen) with practical skills and up-to-date security management techniques. The event, organized by the Human Resource Management Department in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service-Nsawam, addressed recent security concerns and aimed to enhance professionalism within the Assembly.
Under the guidance of the Chief Inspector of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Offei, the training employed lecturing and interactive sessions to deliver comprehensive knowledge on various security aspects. Mr. Offei emphasized the importance of accommodating different behaviors and responding calmly, rather than aggressively, in challenging situations. He stressed the significance of following instructions, avoiding bribery and corruption, and fostering teamwork to deliver effective service to the Assembly and the nation.
During the training, participants raised concerns regarding inequality among Task Force Guards. Mr. Offei advised them to maintain third-party involvement as a source of evidence for future references. Moreover, he emphasized the need for caution when dealing with law offenders or criminals, suggesting that handcuffing should be the immediate response to prevent potential harm. The facilitator also recommended refraining from engaging in sexual activity before work to ensure optimum energy levels and enhance focus.
To provide practical insights, a scenario was presented by the Human Resource Manager, highlighting the importance of time management and seeking assistance from colleagues in critical situations. The training targeted all security and City Guard personnel across various departments within the Assembly.
The training, conducted by the Human Resource Management Department of Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, achieved its objective of enhancing the knowledge and skills of the participants.
In light of the positive outcomes, it was recommended that similar training programs be conducted at least twice a year to ensure security personnel remain updated with the latest security techniques. The Assembly intends to prioritize the safety and security of its residents by continuously investing in capacity building initiatives.
The Modern Security Techniques and Surveillance training marked a significant milestone in Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security measures.
