On Thursday the 22nd of April 2021, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Kwadwo Buabeng and Municipal Coordinating Director, Jeremiah Agyekum Amoafo joined Management of BOMARTSs Farms Ltd. to commission a 170KWp Solar Plant installed at the BOMARTS Factory.
In his address, Hon. Isaac Kwadwo Buabeng acknowledged that the occasion was ample demonstration of the importance of government and private sector partnership in driving the growth of the economy.
Hon. Isaac Kwadwo Buabeng commended the Board and Management of BOMARTS Farms for their creativity and innovation which had resulted in the construction of the 170KW solar project. He added that BOMARTS Farms Ltd. is a trail blazer for this initiative as it is one of a kind in the Municipality. He further stated that, the project complements the government’s vision of providing sustainable and affordable power for Ghanaians.
The MCE admonished other companies and businesses to emulate this great example to minimise their reliance on the national grid which will also reduce their electricity cost. He expressed the need for Ghanaians to take advantage of our geographical location on the globe and invest in Solar Power as a major energy factor as we are blessed with free sunlight most parts of the year.
The Director of BOMARTS Farms Ltd., Mr. Anthony Botchway expressed his joy at the realization of a lifelong dream of the company. He added that this project was an addition to the many sustainability projects implemented by the Company. He said that some of their big challenges were the cost of electricity consumption and other associated problems with power outages. He was optimistic that all these challenges will soon be in the past with the installation of these solar panels. He thanked all partners especially Ecoligo Ghana for financing the project and making it a reality.
Other partners and stakeholders present at the occasion were representatives from Ecoligo GmbH Ghana, BeBa Africa, Tino Solutions, GIZ and AHK Ltd.
