INTER –SECTORAL / ANNUAL REVIEW MEETING HELD BY NSAWAM ADOAGYIRI MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly conducted its annual review meeting at the Municipal Assembly Hall on Tuesday, February 1, 2023. Esteemed representatives from various sectors, including health, education, water supply, security, and social welfare, convened to assess the accomplishments of the previous year and strategize for the future.

Ms. Seraphine Decker from the Department of Cooperatives commenced the meeting with an opening prayer. Mr. Jeremiah A. Amoafo, the Municipal Coordinating Director, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and expressed his gratitude for their presence.

The primary objective of the meeting was to comprehensively review the progress made by different departments, agencies, and institutions within the municipality and identify areas for improvement. The minutes from the previous meeting were meticulously reviewed, ensuring that all necessary corrections were made. Upon the completion of the review, the minutes were unanimously accepted upon a motion by Madam Yayra Koku from the Information Service Department and seconded by Nana Amoako Ampong, a representative from the Traditional Authority.

Significant attention was given to the COVID-19 situation and the ongoing vaccination efforts in the municipality. Dr. Augustine Ankuvi of the Ghana Health Service provided a comprehensive update, highlighting the considerable number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered since September of the preceding year. However, it was noted that less than 50% of the population had received their vaccinations, and a new variant had emerged.

Heads of departments and institutions then presented detailed progress reports for the year 2022. The Health Directorate provided an overview of various programs and routine services, including immunization and clinical care. The Department of Education outlined their activities, while the Ghana Water Company Limited discussed the challenges encountered in extending water supply to certain areas within the municipality.

The Judicial Service reported on their work, including the successful resolution 713 criminal cases and 334 disposed cases. The National Health Insurance Scheme highlighted their achievements in membership registration and revenue mobilization. The Department of Social Welfare presented their efforts in women empowerment, adult education, community care, and child rights protection.

The meeting also addressed other pertinent matters such as the gazetted bye-laws for the municipality, concerns regarding the activities of motorbike riders, and updates on security measures. The Electricity Company of Ghana discussed proposed system improvements and the process of meter acquisition.

In conclusion, the meeting concluded with a call to promptly address assigned responsibilities. The annual review meeting served as a valuable platform for collaboration and strategic planning, ensuring the continued development and well-being of Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality.

Furthermore, the upcoming Odwira festival, scheduled from February 8 to 26, 2023, was highlighted. The festival will feature a range of activities, including a football competition, health screenings, and an eating/food competition. Notably, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, the President of Ghana, is expected to attend as the esteemed guest of honor.

The Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly remains dedicated to fostering progress and cooperation among its departments, agencies, and institutions, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the municipality and improving the lives of its residents.
