THE NATIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION(NADMO) OF THE NSAWAM ADOAGYIRI MUNICIPAL PERFORMS A SIMULATION EXERCISE IN THE RUN-UP TO THE 2020 ELECTION

The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, organised a Simulation exercise at Dobro in the Nsawam/Adoagyiri municipality. It was to test the preparedness of the organization as well all other stakeholders in the run-up to the 2020 elections.
The Regional Director, Mr Alfred Owiredu Agyeman explaining the reasons for the exercise said it is to ensure that all stakeholders like Electoral Commission, security as well as NADMO are well prepared for any unforeseen violence which may lead to people losing lives and properties.
The Simulation exercise was done in the form of a sketch of an ongoing election with pockets of misunderstandings, including snatching of the ballot box which resulted in chaos and some people were injured as a result. The police responded with gunshots which ended up killing one arson. Others were also internally displaced because the chaos resulted in the burning of their houses. NADMO assessed the situation and sent the displaced individuals to safe haven and distributed relief items including buckets, blankets and treated nets to them.
The National Fire service and the National Ambulance service responded swiftly.
The Municipal NADMO Coordinator Mr Godwin Smart expressed satisfaction with the responses of all the stakeholders and appealed the public to desist from violence before, during and after the December general elections
