On 15th February 2023, the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) in Nsawam organized a short presentation ceremony for six graduate apprentices who had completed the Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship (A2E) module of the Young Africa Works (YAW) project. The YAW project is an entrepreneurship development and employment program aimed at young people in Ghana, especially young women.
The A2E module provides vocational/technical skills training and entrepreneurship development to unemployed young women and men, offering them a direct pathway to income generation opportunities. The six apprentices who were presented with start-up kits graduated in three different trades, namely dressmaking, hairdressing, and welding.
The ceremony was graced by the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Buabeng, who played a vital role in the program by presenting the start-up kits to the six graduate apprentices. The start-up kits included tools and equipment necessary for each trade area.
The distribution of the start-up kits was as follows: three apprentices for dressmaking, two apprentices for hairdressing, and one apprentice for welding. The BAC expressed its desire to see Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) and Mastercard Foundation continue with such a great project for years to come.
Overall, the presentation ceremony was successful, and it is expected that the apprentices will make good use of the start-up kits to become successful entrepreneurs in their respective trade areas.
