Nsawam Adoagyiri MCE Inspects River Densu to Address Flood Risks

In a proactive move to safeguard lives and property within the municipality, Hon. Fummey Philibert Amenorpe (Selorm) , the Municipal Chief Executive of the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly, conducted a critical inspection of the River Densu pathway on Monday, 23rd February 2026. He was joined by the Deputy Director (Operations) of NADMO, Hon. Teddy Nana Yaw Addi, the Municipal Coordinating Director, and technical staff from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).

The primary objective of the inspection was to assess the escalating flood risks and potential dangers posed to residents during heavy downpours. It was observed that the River Densu pathway has remained choked for over 20 years since it was last dredged, a blockage that has historically led to the destruction of settlements and placed the lives of those living along the riverbanks at significant risk during the rainy season.

Addressing the community’s concerns, Hon. Fummey Philibert Amenorpe (Selorm) assured residents that the Assembly is prioritizing disaster prevention and announced that in the coming days, a rigorous dredging exercise will be undertaken to clear the river’s path. This exercise is designed to open up space for the free flow of water, mitigate flooding disasters that have plagued the area for decades, and protect livelihoods and local infrastructure from water damage. He also emphasized that this intervention is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring a resilient and safe environment for all citizens under the leadership of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama.
