A partnership between the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency, Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh and Ghana Gas Company, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, has resulted in the commissioning and handing-over of an Astro-turf project in Ahwerease Darmang.

The ceremony, which took place on Thursday, 6th April 2023, was attended by several dignitaries, including the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Kwadjo Buabeng, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency, representatives from Ghana Gas Company, the Chief of Ahwerease Darmang, Hon. Stanley Hans Ofori, the Assembly member for Ahwerease Darmang, the media, and the people of Ahwerease Darmang.

During the ceremony, the Chief of Ahwerease Darmang expressed his excitement for the completion of the facility and thanked the Member of Parliament for bringing the project to the town. He stated that the facility would unearth talented footballers and boost the local economy whenever there is a football match or other events on the facility.

The Municipal Chief Executive emphasized that the government is committed to providing massive infrastructure in rural areas, such as Ahwerease Darmang, to give them their fair share of the national cake. He also urged traditional authorities to lend their support whenever they are called on.

Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh expressed his gratitude to Ghana Gas Company for helping him bring the Astro-turf project to the Ahwerease Darmang community. He said that the facility would produce world-class footballers who will give back to the community when they become successful. He also urged the Assembly and traditional authorities to put the facility to good use to serve the community and its environs.

The representative for Ghana Gas Company mentioned that the project could last for fifty (50) years if it is well maintained. A spectator stand, changing room, and washroom will also be added to make the facility complete.

During the handing-over ceremony, a five-man management committee for the Astro-turf was unveiled, and the keys to the facility were handed over to them by the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive. The committee was mandated to make sure that the Astro-turf was well maintained.

The commissioning and handing-over of the Astro-turf project in Ahwerease Darmang marks a significant milestone for the community, which is expected to benefit from the facility for years to come.
